Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has awarded an AMP8 contract for the provision of clean and waste water tankers and spares worth an estimated £8.7 million.

The water company’s requirement was for the provision of waste, water vacuum tankers, waste water jet vac
tankers, clean water tankers, service parts and spares, together with associated support and maintenance services.
Scope of the contract covers the fabrication of approximately:
- five 1800 gallon jet / vacuum tanker bodies,
- seven 3000 gallon vacuum tanker bodies
- ten 4000 gallon tanker bodies
- four 6000 gallon trailer tanker bodies
- two potable water tankers 6x4 - 26 tonne - 3000
- six potable water tankers 8x4 - 32 tonne - 4000 gallons
The contract was awarded to Midlands-based firm Whale Tankers Ltd without prior publication of a call for competition - the tender process was run through the Achilles UVDB Dynamic Purchasing System.
