NI Water tenders £56m renewable electricity contract

Northern Ireland Water has gone out to tender with a contract for renewable electricity worth an estimated £56 million.

The water company is the largest user of electricity in Northern Ireland and currently consumes approximately 290 GWh of electricity per annum.

NI Water has the target to reach approximately 5-10 percent of volume of energy procured from renewable sources through on-site/ near site projects behind the meter.

The utility is looking to run a competitive tender process to enter into behind the meter PPAs across 15 NI Water water treatment works, waste water treatment works and pumping station sites.

Deadline for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 13th November 2018 – click here to access the tender documentation.
