Veolia to put UK water companies up for sale

French utility giant Veolia is planning to put its three UK-regulated water companies, Veolia Water Central, Southeast and East, up for sale.

The Scottish Government has published its Infrastructure and Investment Plan, which details plans for up to £60 billion of capital spending up until 2030.

A new report from analysts Frost and Sullivan has put desalination centre stage in an increasingly water-stressed China.

Government publishes new climate change report

The Government has published the results of a major new scientific assessment of climate change, highlighting the changes the world has already seen and the impacts it could face if global temperature changes are not limited.

The Welsh Assembly has launched a consultation seeking comments on its newly-published Sustainable Development discussion paper which sets out current thinking on legislation needed to create a single Sustainable Development body for Wales.

Leading environmental organisation WWF has called for the Government to fully the UK carbon budgets.

A new £3.5 million odour control unit which Yorkshire Water believes will significantly help to reduce odours from its Hull waste water treatment works in Hedon, is now up and running.

EU plans €80 billion research programme

The EU is planning an  €80 billion research programme which sharpens focus on converting research results into products and services.

Water companies and the public need to plan now for a summer drought to minimise the impacts of a potentially dry winter, Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman said today.
