Northern Ireland Water and its subsidiaries have awarded a major multi-million pound contract for its network maintenance programme to deliver water and wastewater network maintenance and associated services. The contract had a potential total value of £550 million when it was first tendered - final awarded value is £355 million.

The programme will deliver improvements, repairs and maintenance services across their water and wastewater network for the PC21 and PC27 Price Control periods.
The contract was tendereed in the following four Lots:
- Lot 1 - Water and Wastewater Networks Improvements Repairs and Maintenance Services - up to £320 million
- Lot 2 - Wastewater Network Cleaning and Maintenance and Associated Services – up to £50 million
- Lot 3 - Desludging of Septic Tanks – up to £30 million
- Lot 4 - New Development and Metering Infrastructure (Installation and Maintenance) – up to £150 million
The award value is the total upper limit for all 4 contracts; the anticipated total contract value is £355 million which sits in the range of £323 million - £550 million.
- Lot 1; The anticipated contract value is £210m, this sits in the range of £200m - £320 million.
- Lot 2; The anticipated contract value is £33m, this sits in the range of £25m - £50 million.
- Lot 3; The anticipated contract value is £22m, this sits in the range of £18m - £30 million.
- Lot 4; The anticipated contract value is £90m, this sits in the range of £80m - £150 million.
NI Water said the range of contract value is to allow for increased/decreased usage of the contracts (demand from both internal and external customers), use of innovative processes and to allow for potentially higher than anticipated inflation.
Initial contract term consists of a 9 month implementation period followed by a service period of 3 years with the potential option to extend for 3+1 years.
Meridian Utilities Ltd,Mcallister Bros Ltd and Road Safety Contracts Ltd have all been awarded a place on the framework.
