The Environment Agency has gone out to tender with a contract for Incident Response - logistics, storage, maintenance and crane hire - worth an estimated £7 million.

The EA has tendered the logistics, storage and operational support contract to enable and support the Agency in its incident response role, including tracking of the assets. A key part of the contract is ensuring flood barriers and pumps are ready for rapid deployment to protect against flooding.
The contract is being tendered in two Lots as follows:
Lot 1 - Logistics, Storage & Maintenance
The aim is to ensure the EA assets are stored securely and accessible 24/7, 365 days per year. A key part of the contract is ensuring flood barriers, pumps and other equipment are ready for rapid deployment to protect against flooding and other incidents. The agency said this is of national importance with a great deal of political sensitivity.
The tender specifies one site providing flexible monthly storage space ranging from 1000m2 to 3000m2 (approx. 30,000sq Ft)which is manned for all storage at a central England location. For the first 24 months of the contract there will be a guaranteed requirement of 2000m2 of internal storage.
The purpose is the appointment of a multi-faceted logistics support supplier capable of a wide range of support activities, skills and management abilities to undertake major incident response logistics including heavy haulage, lifting activities and onsite support.
The requirement is to maintain EA assets across England and provide mobile maintenance visits to sites across England.
Lot 2 - Crane Hire
The appointed supplier will be required to provide full contract lifts and a range of cranes for the lifting of pumps, pipework, etc.
Contract start date is 1 July 2024 with an end date of 30 June 2028.
