Southern Water has gone out to tender with a major AMP8 contract for half hourly non-domestic electricity supply and associated services beginning 1 April 2025 worth an estimated £1 billion in total.

The water company is looking to appoint a single OFGEM registered framework provider capable of supplying electricity to its Half-Hourly Electricity Portfolio, together with a range of associated services. T
Southern Water's Half Hourly Electricity Portfolio consists of around 600 supply points with total annual usage circa 370GWh.
Historically, the utility’s HH electricity demand shape could be considered flat/stable. The renewable generation is likely to increase during the term of this framework agreement, but the overall demand has potential to increase as well.
The objective of the procurement is to appoint a supplier that offers flexible products, stability of supply and security and transparency of the supply chain.
Scope of the tender incorporates non-domestic half hourly electricity supply and associated services, including:
- contract & billing management
- performance management & reporting
- legislation and market updates
- asset services if applicable
- innovations
- green energy services and sleeving.
The Initial contract term is 5 years with a further potential extension of up to 3 years.
