United Utilities looks to 3rd parties for advice on optimising energy assets procurement

United Utilities is looking for input from third party providers on how it can optimise the structure of its contracts in order to maximise the use of its energy assets.

The water company, which manages a number of contracts relating to the provision of gas and power, is currently reviewing how to optimise the structure,

Assets include a range of different electricity generating equipment (CHP engines, back-up generators, solar, wind and hydro) - the utility is also considering the installation of battery storage.

United Utilities is looking for external parties to provide their perspective on the optimum way of structuring their contracts.

The water company would like to hear from suppliers who would be interested in such contracts and who can provide case studies or references to demonstrate the benefits of structuring in various ways.

United Utilities said it wants to use pre-market engagement to understand what is potentially on offer before it commits to any formal procurement process. At this stage it is not seeking detailed proposals.

Deadline to submit responses is 5 February 2018 – click here to access the PIN documentation.
