The water company is looking to select a single supplier to provide a combined Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service covering its Corporate/IT and Operational Technology (OT) environments.

Southern Water is seeking a 24/7/365 MDR service providing continuous monitoring, threat detection, triage, investigation, IT and OT incident response, case management, reporting and assurance evidence. The MDR Service must support the utliity in meeting its regulatory and assurance obligations, including CAF, NIS and DWI requirements

Southern Water operates an existing security tooling estate (e.g. Nozomi Networks, Cisco Cyber Vision and CrowdStrike). The MDR Service Provider will be expected to consume and integrate telemetry from these existing tooling sources rather than replace them by default. Where a tenderer identifies material gaps in the existing tooling estate, Southern Water says they should propose solutions to address those gaps as part of their proposed design and tender response.

Deadline for submission of tenders is 4:00pm on 21 September 2026.

Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 July 2027 to 30 June 2030 with two further possible extensions up to 30 June 2032. Estimated contract award decision date is 27 November 2026.

Southern Water reserves the right to require the supplier to deliver some or all of the services in relation to its wastewater operational technology sites and assets, in addition to its clean water sites and assets. Any services required for wastewater OT sites and assets will be of the same type as some or all of the services provided by the supplier for clean water sites.

The procurement documents are available for unrestricted and full direct access, free of charge, at https://southernwater.bravosolution.co.uk. Tenders or requests to participate must also be submitted electronically via https://southernwater.bravosolution.co.uk.

Interested suppliers will need to be registered on the central digital platform (unless already registered) before they will be able to bid.

The procurement is being conducted as a Competitive Flexible Procedure under the Procurement Act 2023, for a single lot, single supplier appointment.
