VolkerStevin Ltd has won a contract worth up to £6.5 million to deliver services and works for pier reconstruction and marine vessel relocations for the Thames Tideway Tunnel Project.
The Contract is structured in two stages - the scope is anticipated to include:
- Stage 1 – ECI professional services; and
- Stage 2 – Works
Stage 2 includes construction of a new floating Blackfriars Millennium Pier – Blackfriars Bridge foreshore, a new floating pier and relocation of the vessel President – Blackfriars Bridge foreshore; and construction of a new floating pier and relocation of the vessel Tattershall Castle – Victoria Embankment foreshore.
Part of the Stage 1 requirements will be to submit a price for Stage 2, based on the final design.
VolkerStevin were one of three companies who bid for the contract, which is valued at between £3 million and £6.5 million. The duration of the contract is expected to be approximately 6 months for the Services and an estimated 12 months for the works.
Although Thames Water intends to proceed to Stage 2 Works with the successful tenderer following completion of Stage 1 Services, it does not however guarantee that it will award Stage 2 Works to the Contractor and has reserved the right to abandon or retender the Works.
