Shropshire-based Wrekin Construction, which employs up to 600 workers across the UK, has gone into administration. Both Wrekin Group PLC and Wrekin Construction Company Limited have ceased to trade and are now in the hands of administrators Ernst and Young. The company, which had a turnover of just over £60 million in 2007, blamed a lack of support from its bank the Royal Bank of Scotland. The company’s work included a number of contracts on canals, rivers, sewers and drainage. For companies interested in acquiring any existing contracts, the Joint Administrators have appointed Naismiths to advise in relation to ongoing contracts. GVA Grimley have been appointed to deal with the sale of the companies’ plant and machinery assets.
