Grontmij has further validated its sustainability credentials through joining the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) Sustainability Index.
The European consulting and engineering firm is a key player in the UK water sector and works with a number of the UK water companies and Tier 1 contractors.
The CIPS Sustainability Index is an independently verified measurement tool which allows suppliers to demonstrate their sustainability practices to potential buyers in an efficient manner and operates across a range of sectors to provide a comprehensive supplier sustainability audit.
In order to meet the CIPS Sustainability Index’s criteria, Grontmij achieved top scores following assessments in three core areas; social, environmental and economic, attaining full marks in the social criteria and top marks for the economic criteria. Joining the CIPS means that clients are able to evaluate Grontmij’s performance and also evaluate this performance against industry peers.
Emma Brigginshaw, Grontmij’s Corporate Responsibility and Environmental Manager commented:
“Our enrolment with the CIPS Sustainability Index further underpins Grontmij’s commitment to operating as a responsible business and will enable us to identify the key areas where our environmental performance can be improved. It will also allow our clients to obtain key sustainability information about us, quickly and efficiently, subsequently aiding their supplier management processes”.
