The move will make it even easier for consumers in the Anglian Water region to find qualified contractors, while enhancing the recognition and reach of the region’s approved plumbing professionals.

WIAPS is the largest of the five UK Approved Contractors’ Schemes.WIAPS is managed by Water Regs UK on behalf of 18 water companies. The nationwide scheme accredits qualified plumbers and sector professionals, including supply pipe installers (groundworkers), who comply with the Water Fittings Regulations.

Current APLUS members can apply to become part of the WIAPS scheme. Joining WIAPS means they will be approved by 18 water companies and are recognised across the UK, eliminating the need for multiple memberships and offering a more streamlined, cost-effective process. This latest agreement is another significant step towards unifying and enhancing plumbing practices across the UK, providing better service for both contractors and consumers.

Julie Spinks, Managing Director at Water Regs UK, said:

“We are delighted to welcome APLUS members into the WIAPS family. This integration will mean that WIAPS approved professionals are approved by 18 water companies, as well being recognised throughout the UK as part of WaterSafe.”

Matt Jackson, Water Supply Regulations Manager at Anglian Water, said:

"This move allows Anglian Water to focus more on enforcement and protecting our customers while continuing to ensure that high standards are maintained among our contractors working in our area of supply. It’s a win for our members who can avoid multiple memberships and consumers, who should find it easier to find a qualified installer.”
