On Thursday 24 October, Waterwise, the independent water conservation group is encouraging people across the UK to turn off their taps for five hours to help highlight the importance of water in our daily lives and why it needs conserving.

The average person in the UK uses 136 litres of water per day. Here in our region, customers use an average of 137 litres.
Now in its second year, Water Night is an annual event that asks households to turn off their non-essential taps between 5pm – 10pm except for ‘essential’ tasks such as flushing the toilet (for hygiene purposes).This year’s event is happening on Thursday 24 October.
Households can pre-fill water bottles, kettles, sinks, etc before the event which is intended to raise awareness and is not a deprivation event
Waterwise is encouraginf everyone to register on the homepage – this allows Waterwise to see what impact the campaign is making nationwide.
Established five years ago by The Water Conservancy in Australia to support stronger action on climate change and water awareness, the campaign has steadily grown with third-party support and endorsements.
Waterwise is leading the Water Night campaign in the UK for the second year, helping to expand its international reach.
