WRc, the innovation consultancy, is trialling a new tool to promote discussion and develop collaborative solutions to help solve the problems and challenges faced by its clients in the water sector.
The on-line WRc Innovation Platform trial will take place with water companies over the next six months. WRc have invited around 200 people to join so far with representatives from all the UK water companies. It will then roll out the participation to a wider community including innovative suppliers and overseas participants.
The WRc Innovation Platform is a tool to facilitate discussion on ideas and proposals for collaborative innovation projects. The consultancy is using it to enhance engagement with and between its clients. Participants are being invited to join the community and set up their profile - they can then comment on any ideas raised or raise their own issues for others to comment. Particpating organisations will be able to share their experiences on a particular problem or issue and find out if others have any potential solutions. If there are no obvious solutions and there is enough interest in a particular idea WRc will bring the interested parties together to discuss collaborative working.
Commenting on the launch of the new tool, Mark Smith, Managing Director at WRc said:
“We’re really excited to run this trial with our clients through this customised platform. It will promote discussion and engagement and sits at the core of WRc’s philosophy and approach to supporting and delivering innovation to our clients.”
The issues covered by the tool are broad ranging and can be filtered by the key outcomes that water companies are looking to achieve, including:
- 24/7 supply of clean water
- Positive impact on the environment
- Unobtrusive wastewater removal
- Affordable Bills
- Full customer choice
The platform also contains basic information on WRc’s ongoing collaborative projects and past projects that may be of interest to the community. The consultancy is also using the platform as an easy way of exchanging project information with participants who have signed up for a specific project.
