Severn Trent Water and sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig have launched a soft market testing exercise as part of reviewing their current approach to chemical dosing systems for the removal of phosphorus from wastewater.
The companies are interested in hearing from suppliers that can offer proven low power consumption and capital cost solutions for mixing of ferric sulphate with crude municipal wastewater.
The chosen solution will be one which provides a demonstrably cheaper whole life cost and can demonstrate that it can provide a significant reduction to chemical consumption when compared to dosing without forced mixing to removal of phosphorus within wastewater.
The companies are looking for technologies which are intrinsically safe and easy to maintain whilst having low associated power demands and additional ancillary equipment requirements.
Severn Trent Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig are particularly interested in the application of motive water injection mixing and dosing techniques or other similar technologies for chemical dosing that do not consume hydrostatic head.
The chemical mixing process must be able to reliably dose chemical to remove phosphorus in crude municipal wastewaters at appreciably lower chemical dose rates than chemical dosing without forced mixing.
