Thames Water has submitted a revised draft Water Resource Management Plan which sets out its strategy to provide a secure and sustainable water supply for the next 50 years.

Plans for the future of water supplies in the South East, including a giant reservoir between Abingdon, Steventon and East Hanney, have been strongly criticised by Vale of White Horse District Council.

Renewed efforts by the water companies who make up the Water Resources South East water group to move forward with proposals for a giant reservoir near Abingdon are again facing opposition in Oxfordshire. 

Thames Water has today launched a major public consultation on its draft Water Resources Management Plan 2024 - the proposed strategic plan for future water supply sets out the ‘big picture’ on how Thames Water intends to plan ahead for the next 50 years.  

The six member water companies of regional water group Water Resources South East have each published their updated drought plans for consultation.

Water Resources South East (WRSE), the alliance of the six water companies that cover the South East region of England, has today published the Resilience Framework it proposes to use in the development of its regional plan.

Ofwat is seeking clarification on aspects of WRSE’s proposed resilience framework as part of WRSE’s work to progress a regional water resources plan for the south east.
