11% increase in profits at Kier

Construction and civil engineering Kier Group has announced an 11% increase in pre-tax profits with the publication of its preliminary financial results for the year to 30 June 2010.

Despite torrential rain at times, 95% of Scottish bathing waters finished the 2010 summer season having achieved at least mandatory bathing water quality or better, and overall only 1.4% of tested samples were below European standards.

The Competition Commission (CC) has now made public its final report on Bristol Water’s appeal against water industry regulator Ofwat’s price decision.

Balfour Beatty has reported a strong performance with the publication this morning of its  half-year update for 2010.

Modern Water plc announces strong interim results

Modern Water plc has announced its Interim Results for the six-month period ended 30 June 2010.

The Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched an initial online survey for its forthcoming Water White Paper.

Southern Water have floated delivery of a two kilometre length of pipe from Shoreham Port to Friars Bay.

Thames Water has launched its 14-week public consultation on plans for the proposed Thames Tunnel, which will significantly reduce sewage discharges into the River Thames.

The Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) Committee has launched a new inquiry into outstanding legislative measures required to implement effective flood and water management policies in England and Wales.

The Scottish Government is launching two new marine consultations this week.
