The Department for Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra) has launched an initial online survey for its forthcoming Water White Paper.
Defra is currently developing a Water White Paper to be published by early summer 2011 as part of the Department’s structural reform plan. The Water White Paper will focus on maintaining water supplies, keeping bills affordable and reducing regulation.
The Department said it is currently in the early stages of developing its plans and wants to encourage individuals or groups to submit their views via a short online survey. Deadline for submissions is 30 November 2010.
Defra is also planning to collect more information and will be consulting further on some of the elements it plans to cover. Defra said that the Water White Paper would focus on the future challenges facing the water industry and also reflect the conclusions of the Ofwat review which was announced on 26 August. It will also set out the Government’s conclusions on:
