United Utilities has put a five year £5 million framework contract out to tender for preliminary wind turbine surveys.

Scottish Water is about to start work on three major projects at waste water treatment works which serve more than a million people in the Glasgow and Paisley area.

UK water companies are calling for water industry watchdogs Ofwat and the Consumer Council for Water to adopt a pragmatic approach to proposals for the introduction of social tariffs for water bills.

A Perthshire landowner and his contractor today were fined £9000 last week following conviction in August 2011 for carrying out building or engineering works in the River Tay without the authority of an authorisation.

The China Investment Corporation (CIC), the country's sovereign wealth fund, has bought nearly 9%  of Kemble Water, the company which owns Thames Water.

European construction output rises

European construction output has risen by 0.8% according to the latest set of statistics released by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

United Utilities engineers will be carrying out exploratory work in Lancaster city centre from next week as part of a major scheme to clean up the River Lune.

Thames Water has announced that a huge project to increase the capacity of one of London’s major sewage works by fifty per cent is now half-way to being complete.

UK first for Costain on behavioural safety

Costain is the first company in the UK to receive independent third party accreditation for its Behavioural Safety Programme.

The Environment Minister, John Griffiths, has approved a Welsh Government grant of over £1.3m million towards a £3 million flood alleviation scheme at Rhydyfelin, near Pontypridd.
