Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman has reiterated her support for a national water grid as she took questions about drought in the House of Commons on 26 April.

 

A report in yesterday’s Sunday Times newspaper has suggested that former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair may have advised two sovereign wealth funds  - the China Investment Corporation (CIC) and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) on investing in Thames Water.

ABB, the Swiss-Swedish electrical engineering group which is prominent in the UK water industry, said its sales and profits rose in the first quarter of 2012, but operating margins slipped to 13.9 per cent from 15.7 per cent in the last quarter.

 

Severn Trent Water has submitted its planning application to build two new service reservoirs near Ambergate in Derbyshire.
