United Utilities has gone out to tender with a contract worth up to £23 million to build an advanced Anaerobic Digestion plant at its Workington wastewater treatment works in Cumbria.
The contract covers the design, supply, construction, installation, testing, commissioning and putting into operation an advanced digestion process solution at the plant. United Utilities said the solution should maximise the value achievable on site from the sludge (eg. gas, heat, energy and product).
The water company said including thermal hydrolysis with biogas collection and power generation at Workington WwTW would reduce its operating costs and generate income from export.
Estimated value of the contract is put at between £15 million and £23 million.
Companies bidding as a consortium, alliance, joint venture will be required to contract in any one of the following forms:
1) contractual joint venture with joint and several liability;
2) corporate joint venture;
3) contractor/subcontractor relationship.
Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 28th November. Click here to access the tender documentation.
