Thames Tideway Tunnel to host supplier event for SCADA specialists

Organisations and suppliers from all levels of the SCADA industry are being given an opportunity to find out how they can work on the Thames Tideway Tunnel project.

With the OJEU for the main construction works and for project funding already launched, Thames Water is now intending to procure a Systems (SCADA) Integrator.

Potential supply chain partners - particularly systems integrators, SCADA instrumentation and controls manufacturers, telephony and PLC panel manufacturers, SCADA software houses and telephony infrastructure providers - are invited to a Market Engagement and Networking workshop on Thursday, July 31st in London.

With a decision on the Development Consent Application expected in September, construction on the project is due to start in 2016 and will involve 24 construction sites across London.

The SCADA contract value is estimated between £9m and £12m, with work expected to commence in May 2015, and will be followed by a maintenance period of up to three years after the project is completed in 2023.

Mike Gerrard, managing director of the Thames Tideway Tunnel, said:

“We have already had a great deal of interest expressed in the main works contracts so we are very excited to be able to launch this next phase of work and expect to see as much enthusiasm again from the market.

“We are building for 22nd Century London to create a cleaner, healthier River Thames. The Thames Tideway Tunnel is needed to tackle the millions of tonnes of raw sewage which discharge into the River Thames every year. The river needs cleaning up and it is the responsibility of our generation to do it.”

Anyone interested in attending the workshop should email contact details and company business registration number to Mark Lythaby at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it
