Lagan Construction nets €14.5m flood defence contract

 

The Office of Public Works in Ireland has awarded Lagan Construction a €14.5m Flood Alleviation Scheme in Fermoy, County Cork, with the 18 month contract due to commence in May 2012.

Lagan Construction will be working with Consultants TJ O’Connor and Associates to deliver the 1.5km scheme of which 1.1km of flood alleviation will be walls supported on 2,600No Continuous Flight Auger Secant Piles.

Other works will include 0.4km of 5metre high clay flood embankments, reinforced concrete works, masonry cladding, aluminium pull up barriers, natural stone paving, storm and foul pipelines as well as carrying out black top surfacing.

The contract also involves the construction of 4No pumping stations including Mechanical & Electrical works which will have an approximate volume of 500 m3 each.
