Construction giant Balfour Beatty has been awarded a £13m contract to extend the Forth and Clyde canal under the M9 motorway.
The company will be responsible for building a culvert to take the canal under the M9 into a newly constructed turning pool. The work is part of a £41m scheme to improve the area between Falkirk and Grangemouth.
The works comprise the design and construction of a new sea lock including all associated M&E, lock gates and river works from the River Carron to a new extension to the Forth and Clyde canal.
