Severn Trent Water, together with sister company Hafren Dyfrdwy Cyfyngedig, is seeking supply chain interest in a proposed multi-supplier coal mining risk assessment framework.
The water company intends to establish a multi-supplier framework agreement which will support both planned and reactive work. Severn Trent is now seeking to understand market appetite and capability in advance of finalising the procurement strategy.
The scope of services is expected to include:
- Present a desk-based review of all available information on the potential coal mining hazards which are relevant to the site;
- Use that information to identify and assess the hazards to the proposed development from coal mining legacy, including any cumulative impact;
- Set out the necessary mitigation measures or works that will need to be adopted to enable safe development;
- Provide information to input into a Coal Authority permit application to disturb or enter coal mining interests and any subsequent licences and/or agreements that may be needed for construction
The framework will support both planned programmes and reactive requirements.
Severn Trent is particularly interested in understanding how suppliers can support efficient, repeatable delivery and consistent performance outcomes.
The scope and structure of the framework may be refined following market engagement.
Current estimated start and end contract dates are 1 May 2027 to 1 May 2030 with a further possible extension option up to 1 May 2035. Estimated publication date of a formal tender notice is 1 November 2026.
Severn Trent is asking interested suppliers to complete a brief online form which asks them to provide contact details, togethewr with replies to the following questions:
- Can your organisation provide Mining Risk Assessments in house?
- Do you have experience working on infrastructure or water industry-related mining risk assessment?
- Have you set specific carbon reduction targets? If yes, please confirm if this is a science-based target (SBT) and whether this has been independently verified
