NI Water is to carry out ground investigation works In Mayobridge, ahead of connections being made later this year to a water booster pumping station currently under construction in the area.

The ground investigation work will get underway on Monday 14th September and will take up to five days to complete.
Speaking about the work, Zama Dilworth, NI Water Project Manager, said:
“This ground investigation work is an essential step in designing connections for the new Aughnagon Water Booster Pumping Station which is currently under construction off the Newry Road. The new station will enhance the water supply network and improve performance for homes and businesses in Mayobridge.”
The essential work is being carried out by GEDA and WSP.
Once commissioned later this year the new Aughnagon Water Booster Pumping Station will provide a more reliable supply for homes and businesses in Mayobridge and the surrounding area.
The investment forms part of NI Water’s Aughnagon Drought Alleviation Programme, being delivered by the utility’s Clean Water Base Maintenance Team which aims to improve the security and resilience of water supplies across the Newry area.
This will be done through upgrades at Camlough Water Pumping Station, Aughnagon Service Reservoir and Carnbane Water Pumping Station.
NI Water says the scheme will enhance network flexibility, improve operational reliability and help safeguard water supplies during periods of increased demand and drought conditions.
