In September Portsmouth Water announced a new, strategic collaboration with key partners to deliver its most ambitious business plan yet - Cappagh, Arqiva, Bridges and IWS, and Tetra Tech are coming together to support the roll out of the company’s £377 million AMP8 programme.

Working alongside Bridges, IWS M&E will drive Portsmouth Water’s non-infrastructure programme, upgrading mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation systems, whilst also delivering energy efficiency schemes, particularly focused on nitrates removal and UV.

As part of year one plans, IWS M&E and Bridges will be looking at booster replacements, reservoir roof replacement and relining, water quality instrumentation upgrades and energy performance testing to help drive carbon reduction.

Dean Adams, Operations Director at IWS M&E, said:

“We’re looking forward to working with Portsmouth Water and their other strategic partners on a wide range of projects part of their ambitious investment plan.

“This is a significant period for the water industry, and we are passionate about delivering innovative and reliable solutions that can help drive improvements and sustainable outcomes for Portsmouth Water.”

Jason Clarke, Delivery Director at Bridges, added:

“We are excited to be supporting Portsmouth Water on this ambitious programme. Through collaboration, we will combine our national expertise, local delivery, and modern methods of construction to deliver sustainable solutions, with positive outcomes for Portsmouth Water, their customers and the environment.

“The Portsmouth Water leadership team led an innovative approach to framework onboarding, engagement and orientation, which has cemented the supply chain in a very short time period. Through this experience, we can see why Ofwat rated Portsmouth as the leading water company in the latest performance report, and we are both proud and privileged to be one of your partners.”

Last month, leaders and managers from all partners came together for a collaborative event to look ahead at what’s coming up in the AMP8 programme and understand each partner’s role.

Bob Taylor, Chief Executive Officer at Portsmouth Water, commented:

“This is an incredibly exciting time for Portsmouth Water as we embark on our largest investment programme in a generation. By building this collaborative ecosystem from day one, we’re making sure we can deliver these essential projects efficiently, providing real value for our customers while protecting our precious local environment.”

IWS M&E is part of South Staffordshire Plc and is a leading provider of integrated water solutions, specialising in water treatment process optimisation, pump optimisation and efficient asset utilisation.

Bridges is a mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) solutions provider that designs and manufactures package solutions, with an engineering portfolio of innovative standardised solutions.
