The Scottish Government is inviting interested suppliers to submit Expressions of Interest for an upcoming £750,000 tender for its Scottish Coastal LiDAR Survey.
The Scottish Government is looking to commission airborne LiDAR surveys of Scotland’s coastal zone, including the intertidal area as part of its commitments within the Scottish National Adaptation Plan 3.
LiDAR survey outputs are required for the proposed survey areas, including LAS files, Digital Surface Models, Digital Terrain Models and associated QA assurance statements. The Areas of Interest extend over five geographic areas.
The Scottish Government says it anticipates that the surveys will need to be phased to coincide with appropriate low tide conditions. While it anticipates that ‘standard LiDAR sensor’ will be used, if the contractor proposed to use Green LiDAR / Marine LiDAR to deliver the same outputs whilst the tide is in,
it remains open to these approaches. Given the expansive areas, it does not expect UAV/Drone surveys to be appropriate.
Scottish Procurement is currently considering the best route to market for publishing any subsequent Invitation to Tender (ITT). The Prior Information Notice is focusing on the market’s capability and to explore the best possible routes to market.
Current estimated date of publication of a formal contract notice is 1 August 2025.
Interested suppliers are invited to register their interest if the requirement aligns with their capabilities and would be likely to submit a bid.
