NI Water awards £10.5 million contract for supply and services for Granular Activated Carbon

NI Water has awarded a contract for the supply of Granular Activated Carbon and related services worth an estimated £10.5 million.

Scope of the contract covers the supply, removal, disposal and replacement of virgin and regenerated Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) and the provision of anthracite to NI Water Group sites.

Lancashire-based company Chemviron Carbon Ltd has been awrded the contract, one of three firms in the bidding for the work.

While the contract award notice has a value of £10.5 million, the expected spend is likely to range from between £8 million to £12 million. NI Water said this range reflects the potential scale of the contract and takes into account any changes to the demand and scale which may result from future operational requirements.

Chemviron is part of Calgon Carbon - headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Calgon Carbon,is the world’s largest manufacturer of activated carbon, with production plants, service centres, and carbon reactivation facilities in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.
