United Utilities has launched the procurement process for its forthcoming multi-billion pound AMP8 capital programme for 2025-30 with a call for pre-market engagement from the supply chain.
The water company is currently developing its strategy for AMP8 - when this is finalised it intends to publish a Call for Competition to secure a range of supply chain partners for the delivery of a substantial part of its AMP8 and potentially AMP9 Capital Programme. The AMP8 regulatory period will run from April 2025 to March 2030.
The value of United Utilities’ current AMP7 Capital Programme (2020 to 2025) is currently projected to be in excess of £1.5 billion. The current indication is that the value of the upcoming AMP8 investment programme will exceed AMP7.
The water company said a suite of Frameworks and tender lots are anticipated to be required to deliver the capital programme, including:
- Delivery partners for works ranging from low complexity build-only activity through to complex Design and Build capability, and full catchment delivery
- Engineering consultancy services
- Specialist water & wastewater modelling services
- Commercial consultancy, assurance and related activities and
- Capabilities relating to the delivery of Nature Based / Green Solutions (including project conception, design and implementation).
United Utilities is also considering an upfront Strategic Engineering Partner Service to help develop and optimise the programme in line with the Options Hierarchy (including hybrid solutions).
The water company is now looking to understand from the market
- types of partners operating in these markets
- commercial models and incentive mechanisms of interest
- emerging innovation with regards to all Works.
