NI Department for Infrastructure awards £6m contract for maintenance of underground infrastructure

The Department for Infrastructure in Northern Ireland has awarded a term contract for the inspection and maintenance of underground infrastructure worth an estimated £6 million.

The contract was tendered in three separate Lots to cover the following three areas:

  • IMU1 — Greater Belfast area
  • IMU2 — Coleraine, Omagh and Fermanagh areas
  • IMU3 — Armagh and Lisburn areas

Works to be undertaken under the contract will include:

  • desilting of culverts
  • CCTV surveys of culverts
  • trenchless/specialist repairs of culverts
  • traffic management, gaining access to culverts, associated civil works.

Belfast-based company Amelio Utilities Ltd has been awarded for a contract for Lots 1 and 2, with Newry firm Blockbusters Environmental Services Ltd arded a contract for Lot 3. Seven firms were in the bidding for the contract which will run for an initial term of three years.
