Southend-on-Sea Borough Council has awarded a contract for the provision of expert consultancy support for coastal protection and flood risk management worth an estimated £409,000.

The Council has appointed Mott MacDonald as its consultant to provide expert support in discharging its duties under the Flood Risk Regulations 2009 and the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 and other activities in local flood risk management.
The contractor will also be required to provide expert support to help the Council in discharging its duties under the Coastal Protection Act 1976 and the implementation of the Southend Shoreline Strategy 2019.
Mott MacDonald was one of five companies who bid for the work.
