Severn Trent looks to market for ammonia monitoring system solutions in ASPs

Severn Trent Water is seeking input from the supply chain to help it assess robust ammonia concentration measurement in various wastewater environments.

The water company is looking to identify potential suppliers who have current or emerging technical capabilities and are in various stages of development including:

  • Concept discovery
  • Developing concept trials
  • Final development
  • Deployed

Severn Trent said the successful solution will need to meet the technical challenges of producing a system or approach with the necessary capabilities at a price point that justifies the business case for a dynamic dissolved oxygen aeration control roll out at the largest possible number of Activated Sludge Process (ASPs) sites.

The supplier will need to demonstrate the capability of developing a solution which:

  • can deliver accurate and robust data;
  • successfully operate in various wastewater environments;
  • demonstrate ability to reliably transmit data to local control and SCADA systems; and
  • has established whole life costs and can facilitate large scale deployment.

Suppliers will need to demonstrate via a proof of concept trial that the system can be deployed and validate that the installation, operation, maintenance, reliability, and whole life cost of the product is consistent with the water company’s operational needs.
