Angus Council tenders £8m flood defence construction scheme

Angus Council in Scotland has gone out to tenders with a contract for the construction of a flood defence scheme for Arbroath worth an estimated £8 million in total.

The works will include the construction of 3 flood storage areas and modifications to existing structures to increase protection in the town of Arbroath.

The Council is looking to appoint a single contractor to provide civil engineering works including:

  • multiple operations spread across rural and urban locations,
  • construction of an upstream flood storage area at Brothock Meadows using embankments and flow controls to retain flood water above the natural ground level
  • construction of a second upstream flood storage area at St. Vigeans
  • construction of a third flood storage area (embankment only) at Hercules Den

The scheme also includes works along the Brothock Water corridor within the town of Arbroath involving replacement, reconstruction, raising or refurbishment of existing channel walls in a number of discrete locations to increase channel flow capacity.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 29th August 2019 – click here to access the tender documentation.
