Staffordshire County Council tenders £3m legionella testing contract

Staffordshire County Council has gone out to tender with a framework contract for the service and testing of domestic water systems worth an estimated £3 million.

The work covered under contract is intended to meet the continual servicing and monitoring requirements of Approved Code of Practice L8 (the control of legionella bacteria in water systems) and HSG274 to minimise the risk from legionella bacteria and the scalding risk from hot water.

Systems covered by this contract are hot and cold domestic systems, together with any permanently connected equipment (e.g. Rainwater Systems) but excluding air conditioning equipment, swimming pools and hydrotherapy pools.

Theauthority is looking to appoint a single supplier to the framework, which will run for three years with two further one year extension options.

Other local authorities including Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council, Unitas Stoke-on-Trent Ltd (part of Stoke City Council), Stafford Borough Council, Cannock Chase District and South Staffs Council will also be able to call off from the framework.

Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 19th February 2019 – click here to acces the tender documentation.
