United Utilities is inviting suppliers offering complex multi technology IT services to register their interest ahead of going out to tender with major framework contracts later this year.
In 2013 the water company let five Frameworks split into 5 Lots under the ICT Led Business Transformation Frameworks, which have been extensively used.
To reflect significant changes to the market since the current frameworks were let, United Utilities is now looking to reach out to the market in the approach the start of AMP7 in 2020. The utility wants to build on the work delivered in AMP6 and to support the continued development of its IT landscape.
United Utilities is currently proposing to tender the following Lots:
- Lot A Complex Multi Technology IT Services
- Lot B Specialist Technology Services
- Lot C IT Advice and Resource Augmentation Services
- Lot D Hardware & Software Services
- Lot E Cloud Support Services
The implementation of the new Lots is initially planned to be completed before the start of the next AMP to ensure the utility is “well positioned” to deliver upon its business plans which were recently presented to Ofwat.
The new frameworks are intended to support United Utilities in developing its system thinking capability which will deliver significant future benefits for customers across many areas of service – and this will be underpinned by IT delivery. The water company said the application of disruptive technologies and digital thinking would help develop this vision.
Under systems thinking, the business is managed and operated as a single end-to-end system. The dependencies and interactions between its sub-components, both internal and external, are better understood and used to unlock the long-term opportunities for step change in benefits for customers.
United Utilities will start this process later this year by launching the procurement for the Lot A Complex Multi Technology IT Services contracts. The contracts will be used to support IT Maintenance and Support Services as well as project services where multiple technologies are impacted.
The water company is now inviting companies with relevant experience to provide at a minimum company name, contact details, including location telephone and e-mail address, main point of contact and position in company to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
