Thames Water has awarded a contract for water treatment chemicals worth an estimated £4.2 million.
The water company was looking for a partner to deliver an end to end solution for the provision of septicity control involving the reduction and prevention of the formation of hydrogen sulphide within Thames Water waste water network.
The key scope of requirements the successful contractor will provide under the contract include:
- Supply of chemical for septicity dosing.
- Delivery of chemical to required Thames Water sites.
- Monitoring septicity dosing tank chemical volumes and monitoring dosing flow rates from dosing pumps to ensure that correct dosing is maintained.
- Providing septicity control advice in relation to hydrogen sulphide detection, modelling chemical dosing solutions and chemical dosing optimisation.
- Supply and installation of septicity control dosing units.
- Provision of routine and preventative maintenance of septicity control related new and existing assets.
The contract, which was tendered in two Lots, will run for an initial duration of 3 years, with options to extend annually up to a maximum overall term of 7 years.
Both Lots have been awarded to YARA UK Ltd, one of three companies in the bidding for the work.
