Glasgow City Council tenders Pollok hydro electric scheme

Glasgow City Council is looking for suppliers to come up with a one off innovative hydro-electric solution for a scheme at its Pollok Country Park.

The Council is inviting tender bids relating to the sawmill in the Park for a solution which will produce the maximum possible electrical output - the Council is expecting in the order of 240 MWh to be generated annually from the available potential energy.

The Council is suggesting that the output of 240 MWh could be achieved by:

1. refurbishing the existing turbine(s),

2. providing new hydro-electric turbine(s),

3. any other innovative solution.

The successful supplier will also be responsible for maintenance which will be for an initial period of 10 years from installation.

The Council will also have an option to extend the maintenance contract for two further periods of up to 4 years. Time limit for receipt of tenders or requests to participate is 23rd March 2016 – click here to access the tender documentation.
