Dwr Cymru Welsh Water has awarded a £3 million AMP6 asset management consultancy framework contract .
Atkins, Black & Veatch, Halcrow Group and Mouchel have all been appointed to the the framework.
The agreement is for clearly defined project work which will be awarded on an as required basis via a mini competition process on each occasion.
Eight companies were in the bidding for the contract, which will be for an initial 2 year period with options to extend annually for a further 3 years.
The work will include creating asset management systems and processes; then integrating them into DCWW’s day-to-day activities. Collection and analysis of asset data is central to the role.
DCWW’s asset base includes 66 impounding reservoirs, 63 water treatment works, 26,500 kilometres (km) of water mains, 30,000 km of sewers, 1,912 sewage pumping stations and 838 wastewater treatment works.
Nigel Earnshaw, Director of Asset Management at Black & Veatch, which has worked for DCWW since the utility’s formation in 2000, commented:
“We can help clients realise the value of class-leading asset management. Black & Veatch has worked with organisations in many countries and sectors to achieve international asset management benchmarks.”
The win builds on Black & Veatch’s previous achievements in the field - earlier successes include helping both DCWW and South East Water achieve certification against PAS 55, the internationally recognised benchmark for asset management best practice. More recently Black & Veatch has helped clients seeking to meet the ISO 55,000 suite of asset management standards.
