Scottish Water has awarded a contract for modular assembly fabrication work worth up £12 million to ID Systems UK Ltd, one of only two companies to bid for the work.
Scottish Water had been looking to appoint a supply chain partner under an open book agreement to provide a variety of modular based products assembled/fabricated in a ‘factory’ environment.
Scope of work was to produce factory tested and fully functional units complete with O&M manuals using repeatable design for delivery to site for off loading to a pre-prepared foundation slab or final installation area.
IDS will work closely with Scottish Water and their alliance partners, standard products and in house engineering team to deliver the modular assembled assets during Scottish Water’s SR15 funding period. Products currently include, Wastewater Pumping Stations (WPS), Treated Water Pumping (TWP) and Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO).
Commenting on the contract win, Iain Doherty, IDS Managing Director, said:
“This framework model allows IDS to work collaboratively with Scottish Water to deliver its Standard Products over the next seven years. We see this as an opportunity to bring increased efficiencies and value-for-money to Scottish Water.”
The scope of work to be carried out under the Modular Assembly Framework contract which will run for 7 seven years until June 2022, includes:
- Off site manufacture, fabrication and assembly of component based modular mechanical, electrical plant installations including associated components interdependency pipe work and control systems.
- Production of equipment that is fully compliant with Scottish Water's standard design(s) and specification.
- Modular units to be capable of delivery from the fabricator at a level of completion to allow Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test, installation and commissioning or commissioning by others.
- Factory finished assemblies to be developed using proprietary modular equipment and associated components sourced from Scottish Water's current framework agreements and the open market.
The capabilities required under the contract include design capability, product development acceptance, implementation/user training and a strong and robust procurement and material planning capability.
The water company also expects full transparency of the supplier's actual costs to facilitate co-development and value engineering.
