MITIE, the strategic outsourcing and asset management company, has secured a six-year contract to deliver an integrated facilities management contract for the largest water utility company in the UK - Thames Water Utilities Ltd (TWUL).

Following discussions with its administrators, Mann Construction has made all staff redundant and the company has ceased to trade.

Consulting and business services group, Mouchel, has reported a strong increase in revenue and profit and improved operating margins in the period to 31 January 2009.

Mott MacDonald has been appointed by the Environment Agency (EA) to provide flood risk modelling and mapping for Barnstaple in Devon, UK.

The average household water and sewerage bill across England and Wales is set to rise by 1.1 per cent above inflation in 2009/10. The rises for this year will come into effect from tomorrow and apply until 31 March 2010.

MITIE Group PLC,  the strategic outsourcing and asset management company, has just reported continung “good growth” in the second half of the year in its latest trading performance update.

Southern Water’s Peacehaven water scheme has moved a step nearer to getting the go-ahead after an application for a judicial review into the scheme by campaigners was rejected last week by the Queen’s Bench Division of the High Court in London.

Laing O’Rourke buck the downturn

Ray O’Rourke, chairman of Laing O’Rourke, has predicted a minimum of 25 per cent growth on group revenue and a minimum 25 per cent growth of profit before tax.

Work has begun to create a new £500,000 Yorkshire Water environmental visitor centre at the company’s Esholt waste water treatment works near Bradford.

Northern Ireland Water (NI Water) has awarded a £50million water and sewerage networks service contract to Meridian Utilities Ltd.
