The arrival of massive new mains pipes in Sheffield's Malin Bridge has marked the halfway stage for Yorkshire Water's £11m investment in the city.
Contractors Balfour Beatty started work on the three-year project in 2008 and have already completed work on 42 km of pipe in and around Gleadless, Norton, Ecclesall, Fullwood and Norton Lees.
Malin Bridge is the most recent phase of the massive project, but another 40 km of trunk main remains to be completed in the west and south of the city, as well as in parts of the city centre. Work starts on the second phase of the Malin Bridge project this week.
