On 12th December 2025 South East Water lifted the instruction to boil tap water before use for 24,000 households and businesses in Tunbridge Wells and surrounding areas with immediate effect.
The Rt Hon Mr Alistair Carmichael MP, Chair of the House of Commons Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee has written to David Hinton CEO of South East Water to raise his “significant concern” over the ongoing lack of water access for 24,000 customers in and around Tunbridge Wells.

South West Water has now reduced the number of customers impacted by the boil water notice in the Brixham area after water quality monitoring results confirmed no traces of cryptosporidium in the Alston supply area.
