British Water to lead trade visit to Libya

British Water is leading its first delegation of UK water experts to Tripoli in April to connect companies with water and wastewater opportunities in Libya.

The UK group will meet key government departments and organisations responsible for water, wastewater and desalination projects and several B2B networking events will be held to explore areas for cooperation.

In 1999 Libya developed a 25 year (2000-2025) strategic development plan for national water supply with the aim of generating sustainable development.

The newly established Ministry of Water Resources is expected to revisit and update the existing strategic plans.

Significant opportunities exist for UK companies to partner with Libyan firms and local authorities to refurbish, maintain and construct water and wastewater networks, pumping stations, desalination plants, stormwater networks and other infrastructure, while training and education is also a significant requirement.

The visit will take place 20-23 April 2013.
