Leading European engineering consultancy, Grontmij has been appointed to a 10-year framework with Northumbrian Water Limited, worth an estimated £2 - 4 million per annum.
Dr Colin Price, Northumbrian Water Limited’s technical director, commented:
“Selecting a special group of companies to help us deliver our investment programme allows us to guarantee work and quality standards at competitive prices and means we can develop mutually beneficial relationships. It will be particularly welcome in these challenging economic times”.
Subject to appointment for individual projects, Grontmij will provide consultancy services and technical advice from April 2011 to facilitate delivery of their £1.5 billion capital investment programme. Working alongside three other consultants, the work will include feasibility, design and commissioning support, calling on the expertise of the Grontmij civil, process and MEICA specialists from project inception through to operational handover.
The framework will potentially run until 2021 and to demonstrate its commitment to Northumbrian Water, the intention is for Grontmij to invest in opening a new office in the North East of England.
John Chubb, Managing Director, Grontmij, said:
"I am delighted that Grontmij has been appointed to the framework. Our significant framework wins throughout the water industry, coupled with many years of knowledge and expertise in a wide range of skills, mean we will start 2011 in a strong position in the market. Our challenge now is to bring our considerable expertise and innovation to Northumbrian Water to enhance their business. We are dedicated to delivering true added value to Northumbrian, and indeed the UK's water companies, throughout 2011 and beyond."
Paul Smedley, regional director at Grontmij, added:
“We are extremely proud to be appointed to such an important and high profile Framework with such a customer conscious client as Northumbrian Water. A combination of the Grontmij collaborative and innovative culture together with the skills and experience gained from 20 years of working with the UK water and sewerage companies has been recognised by Northumbrian Water. This is testament to the fact that our project teams continue to deliver fresh ideas and sustainable solutions to the water industry.”
