Corby-based company Utility Bidder Ltd has applied to Ofwat for water and sewerage licences to supply services to the retail business sector.
A synopsis of the business plan published by the regulator says that the firm will enter the non-household retail market to offer water, sewerage and trade effluent services “to complement its well-established energy management and brokerage services.”
Utility Bidder Ltd says that customers will benefit from a multi-utility service focussed on a “renowned level of customer service and expertise in delivering cost savings.”
The firm is already active in the gas, electricity and telecoms sectors. For the water sector, the company website says Utility Bidder “will help you secure the best contract for your business, through using our market insights and supplier relations.”
“We have teamed up with some fantastic water suppliers to be able to offer a range of complete water packages. From new contracts, to bill validations through to water audits – if there is are savings to be made, we will find it.”
Services the company is offering include water audits and investigating and identifying leaks. The website highlights the fact that one of its auditors has found one in three clients had been overcharged for their business water. Working on performance related fee basis, Utility Bidder Ltd. says it will work with its suppliers to gain money back from the water suppliers.
Deadline to submit comments to Ofwat about the application is 16 February 2018.
