Yorkshire Water announced this morning that the company has accepted Ofwat’s Final Determination .
Ofwat published Final Determinations for all the water companies in England and Wales on 26 November, setting out investment levels and prices for the next five years from 2010 - 2015.
Yorkshire Water said they had been carefully considering the detail over the last few weeks and have now advised the water industry regulator of its decision to accept the Determination. In a statement, the company said it would be investing around £1.9 billion in the Yorkshire region over the next five years, in line with what we asked for in its Final Business Plan.
Yorkshire Water said its plans would enable it to:
-
Continue to ensure that people in Yorkshire have a secure supply of drinking water
-
Invest over £100 million to reduce the number of properties that experience sewer flooding
-
Invest £53 million in pumping stations and sewers to reduce pollution incidents by 47%
-
Invest over £110 million to improve bathing waters along the East coast
-
Launch a major programme of automated meter reading
The company said that although it was a challenging plan, it gave the company a “fighting chance” of delivering even better performance over the next five years.
