Severn Trent Water will start work next week on a £350,000 sewer replacement scheme for the village of Norton in Gloucestershire.
The water company’s contract partners NMCNomenca will replace the sewer pipe which runs from Bishop’s Norton through to Norton village.
Ian Woodward, Severn Trent’s programme engineer for the scheme, explained:
“The pressure sewer in Wainlode Lane has been serving the community for a long time, but is nearing the end of its life now. The sewer pipe has a history of bursting and we’ve had to use tankers to take sewage away, while we’ve carried out our repairs. This isn’t acceptable to us, and most importantly, to our customers.”
“We’ll be replacing the full length of our sewer pipe, which runs from the existing pumping station in Bishop’s Norton through to our existing sewer network in Norton village.”
NMCNomenca will use a ‘trenchless’ technique to install the new sewer pipe using, which avoids lengthy excavations and means it can be installed more quickly
