The Kenya 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG) Partnership has been launched at a high level roundtable which brought together senior members of Kenya’s government, private sector and civil society to discuss solutions to bridging the gap between the country’s future water demand and supply.

For the second consecutive month, rainfall totals for October were below average across England at 82% of the long term average, according to the Environment Agency’s latest water situation report for England.

Chancellor George Osborne will today insist better infrastructure is vital to improve the lives of British people as he commits to £100 billion of spending in this Parliament for new roads, rail, flood defences and other vital projects.

The majority of businesses (62%) are concerned with the pace of progress on the delivery of infrastructure projects, and over half (53%) believe they won’t see necessary upgrades in the next five years, according to the 2015 CBI/AECOM Infrastructure Survey.

Atkins has signed an agreement launching a Centre for Research and Innovation with the University of Birmingham, Imperial College London, and the British Geological Survey, to tackle the economic and environmental impacts of groundwater infiltration on urban infrastructure in the UK.

The UK has fallen two places down the global ranking for infrastructure asset investment and now sits in 13th position behind all other G7 nations, according to the latest Global Built Asset Wealth Index published by leading global design and consultancy firm for natural and built assets Arcadis.

Water impacts have cost businesses over $2.5 billion this year, and over two thirds of companies say their business is exposed to substantive risks in the future.

The effects of six consecutive years of record low interest rates - which have cut older savers' returns - have been unveiled in new research which reveals that over 60s are most likely to fall into arrears with their water company.

Water UK, the body which represents all the UK water companies, is joining a three-year European Commission work programme to develop a best available technology reference document for oil and gas, which will take full consideration of environmental protection.
