Water Resources West launches online collaboration platform

Water Resources West has launched ‘IdeaStream’ – an online collaboration platform which will allow people to get involved in consultations and plans to shape the future of water resources across the North West, the Midlands and the cross-border catchments with Wales.

WRW is one of five regional groups across England and Wales, bringing together local abstractors, their representatives and regulators.

Over the next three years WRW will be developing a plan to ensure sustainable and resilient water supplies, working across sectors and taking account of wider societal needs and environmental improvements.

Launching the new platform, Richard Blackwell, Director of Water Resources West commented:

“Making sure we have a sustainable and resilient future for our water resources is incredibly important. We estimate that the region will need over 200 million litres of additional water per day by 2050 - that’s over and above what we use now and it has to come from somewhere. This means that we must work together to find new opportunities to meet these needs.”

“And this is what IdeaStream is all about – it’s a new platform where you’ll be able to join discussion forums to share your ideas and collaborate with people from multiple sectors. You’ll also find a host of consultations to get involved with.“

“It’s vital that interested groups from across Wales, the North West and the Midlands feed into these plans. We need to understand your needs, ambitions and opportunities, so we can ensure that we are prepared for the future.”

The Water Resources West group itself was officially launched online on Friday 16 October via a virtual conference and webinar, including an exclusive panel discussion.
